Growing up in a conservative midwestern community, I viewed the world around me in an inquisitive yet questioning manner. I was intrigued how our cultures shaped our beliefs. My work is dedicated to changing the perception of the norms and capturing the true human experience. I hope to interpret the world around me in such a manner that all its honesty, struggles, joys and relationships are revealed. I hope the viewer sees the same.

Artist's Statement 

Lauren Matthies is a vibrant, motivated young photographer who captures the human connection and experience. Primarily focusing on event photography, she has developed the ability to interpret the world around her in all its honesty, struggles, joys, and relationships. 

Her education includes graphic design and photography.
